Software Update

Set the Table

Each of us carries with us an incredible piece of technology, almost greater than anything the world has ever seen, that has the capacity to change the world, all in the palm of our hands; our cell phones.

Despite the incredibleness of our phones the manufacturer still requires regular “updates” throughout the year. The phones aren’t in need of a complete makeover but rather a small, simple update to remove any “bugs” and provide enhancements.

Many people activate the update immediately while others ignore them. But even those who ignore the update notification eventually face a moment where the phone can’t move forward until an update is completed.

Similar to software updates on our phones, we need “updates” to our IOS (Individual Operating System) as well. Most of us aren’t in need of a complete transformation or extreme makeover (a software upgrade), but rather a series of small, simple updates (software updates) to remove some “bugs” and provide enhancements.

During the Software Update exercise we’ll work on identifying any “bugs” that need removing and layout an Update schedule to improve our own “IOS”

"“Once I heard Software Update presented, it hit me… HARD. It reminded me that I need regular “updates” to my IOS. It allowed me to look at self-improvement in a completely new context.”"

Coach, take a moment to reflect on the lesson and how you can lead by example to your players.

Coach, what is one area of your IOS that could use an update? Spend a few minutes thinking about how you can put a plan into action to update part of your IOS.
