Set the Table

This is a multi-faceted, multi-lesson exercise connecting our players need to properly prepare and the importance of remaining focused.

Players who have a leadership mindset understand the need to prepare so when their number is called, they are ready to perform.  They take so much pride in their preparation because they never want to risk not performing at a high level for both their sake and the sake of their teammates.

They also understand the need to lock-in during the game. Preparation is the first step but remaining fully engaged during the game is equally as important.

Preparation and focus will allow you to better perform so you need to develop those skills, and get in the habit of having both components become part of your daily life.

The movie script exercise will help you accomplish that.

"“This exercise was powerful. It was crazy to see how the dynamics that allowed us to be successful in movie script are the exact dynamics we need to have to be successful as a team.”"

Coach’s Reflection

Coach, take a moment to reflect on the lesson and how you can lead by example to your players.

Coach, how often do your backups get quality reps in practice? Are they ready to step in and play if their number is called? There is only so much you can do within the allotted practice time, but spend some time this week making sure your athletes are ready to step up if their number is called.
