The Six

Overview

The 6 exercise serves as the 3rd level of accountability within the Green Team Framework (1st being Green Team and 2nd being Lifeguard). “My 6” helps teammates pair up to support and look out for each other all season long. The phrase “I’ve got your six” means “I’ve got your back,” like how a teammate watches out for the others. In this exercise, each player will have a “6” partner, working together to help each other stay positive and focused (“Green”).

"The SIX program was my favorite part of Lead ‘Em Up and something I looked forward during both my two years on Varsity."

Coach’s Reflection

Coach, take a moment to reflect on the lesson and how you can lead by example to your players.

Coach, who are the people that have your back? What does it mean to have that kind of support? How does it help you do what you do? While reflecting upon that, whose backs’ do you have? Do they know you've got their six?
